  • What is an email newsletter?
  • Why you should create one?
  • What to write about?
  • And, how to get started with an email newsletter?

Let's dive right in!

What Is An Email Newsletter?

An email newsletter is an electronic report containing news about activities of a business, organization, or an individual that is sent to subscribers/members by means of email (electronic mail).

Why You Should Start An Email Newletter?

If you have been thinking about creating content for a while but are too shy to hop on Youtube, TikTok, Instagram an email newletter is a wonderful way to dip your toes in the water. Hdere are some reasons why you should possibly start an email newsletter:

  • Starting is an email newsletter is completely FREE. There is virtually little to no start up cost. The most that is needed from you is just to start. There are bunch of platforms out there that allow you to start, for the low price of $FREE.99, that I will mention later on in this blog.
  • Starting is pretty easy. Think of your potential newsetter as you writing an essay for a creative writing class. For a creative writing class, the hard part about the assignment is really just writing the paper.  The same concept translates to writing an email newletter. If you know how to type, you've already done a good portion of the work. The other half of it it sending your written work through email and you are DONE!

Unlike starting a Youtube Channel or getting on any other popular social media site, you don't have to think too hard to get started. Youtube sometimes could mean fixing your background, working on lighting, having a quiet background could be a challenge if you don't live alone, etc. It takes a lot more courage to sit in front of camera and talk to it for 5 to 10 mintues (or more) as oppose to typing.

  • Whatever you write is public but private at the same time. When you create and email newsletter you are distrubuting your work for loads of people to interact with but those people are more of an organic audience. The people who subscribe to your email newsletter may just be a few friends or no one at all. The point is the content that you put out through your email newsletter are going out to people that you have grown with. When you create an email newsletter you have a direct relationship with your audience  . You have built up an audience of loyal people who care about what it is you talk about; which is nice.
  • Creating an email newsletter really just boils down to your ability to write. Most people have been writing since primary school, so writing should be fairly easy to start up again even after so many years. Do not underestimate the power of writing. So many people make a living off of this very thing called writing.

When you consistently write to your subscribe email newsletter audience and you market a product well, you could potentially make good money. An email newsletter is a really goog wayv to market products because you audience has given you permission to send them information; the best part is, your subscribers/members can unsubscribe at any point in time.

  • Also, you could make a bunch of friends through the internet. You'd be surprised by the number of people that would love to hear your stories. Something crazy, in good way, could happen where someone may respond to your newsletter and before you know it, you're having a full blown conversation with a complete stranger and you've made a new friend.

These are just a few of the well know benefits to starting an email newsletter. Although there is a great potential for you to make boat loads of money with an emial newsletter, money should not be your main reason for starting one. You will definitely burn out if money is your only motivation.

An email newsletter is not something that will make you money over night. However, something as basic as sending out one email newsletter daily or weekly does have the capacity to make you money down the line; if you keep at it. You must be dedicated and enjoy the journey.

What You Should Write About?

I sure at this point, you're sold on the idea that start an email newsletter is a smart decision for you to make. Congrats, I'm proud of you!

The only issue is, your brain is asking you

"WHAT SHOULD I WRITE ABOUT?"

Don't worry, I have an answer to that question. No need to panic.

You can really write about whatever you want. It doesn't have to glamorous. Being a content creator is simply about creating CONTENT. The content that you create should be content that you like making just with or without an audience. You just create the content in hopes that someday your content leaves a good impression on someone and adds value to their life.

The content that you produce through your email newsletter could literally be approached as a public diary. You can talk about  a book you read recently, or someplace fun that you went to, someone you met, ANYTHING. An email newsletter made solely on the premise of the fact that you geniuenly enjoy what you create has a far greater chance of lasting than one that is made with the sole purpose of generating money.

When you make content because you love what you do, it makes it a whole easrier to stay consistent. If you haven't noticed consistency generally tends to win the game in the world of content creating.

So, I do not care what you write about. To be honest it really does not matter. What matters is that you love the content that you create. In the early days of your newsletter, chances are, you won't be making boat loads of cash. Write what makes you happy.  Write and share with the world.
