Jamie Fraser Would Be My Ideal Ficitional Husband. Here's Why.
I had a pretty interesting conversation with someone the other day. This individual asked me,
"Which ficitional character would you marry?"
To be honest, my real answer is a combination of male characters; however, I could only choose one person. It looks like Jamie Fraser won.
I'm sure many of you are wondering, "Who the heck is Jamie Fraser?" Don't worry, I will get into that in this blog. Out of the many options I had in my head, he was the best pick for me. If you all have any ficitional character crushes please let me know in the comments.
I hope you all fall in love with Jamie as well after reading this blog post.

Who is Jamie Fraser?
A description of Jamie Fraser according to Audible Blog
"Jamie is six foot four inches tall, has striking red hair (described as a mixture of auburn, amber, roan, cinnabar, rufous, copper, cinnamon, red, and gold), dark blue eyes, and fair skin. Jamie is a natural-born leader, able to navigate most social situations with ease. True to his sign, Jamie is extremely stubborn, much like the Frasers who came before him. He is also fiercely loyal and will protect his family and loved ones at all costs, even if it means making sacrifices for himself."
The character of Jamie Fraser is played by Sam Heughan.
Why is Jamie Fraser My Fictional Crush?
I have several ficitonal crushes but here are a few reasons why Jamie beat the other contenders for me:
(As of now...)
#1: Attention to Detail
I feel like Jamie knew Claire more than she knew herself. Jamie knew her mannerisms, he knew what to do and what not to do around her. Jamie knew when Claire was pregnant with Brianna before Claire even realized it, why? Because he was attentive to her. Jamie was in tuned with his lady and I respect it. If anything, I think I might be envious of Claire.
#2: Seriousness
Right from day one, when Claire passed through the stones into Scotland, Jamie was locked in. There had been some subtle flirting on his part but Jamie took thing up a notch after he married Claire.
I remember during the episode about their wedding, Claire could recall very little about the day, she was so zoned out and rightfully so; I mean, she's already married. Jamie, on the other hand, got her ring made from a precious family heirloon, he made sure the venue and the pastor were good; he was on it. Jamie wanted his first and last wedding, regardless of how they together, to be done right.
I love when men don't play about their significant others/family; Jamie never played about Claire. Granted, Claire isn't the type of lady to be played with. Jamie loved Claire above all else. Claire's well being is always at the top of his mind.
There are a lot of moments in Outlander that stir up emotions in me, but this scene here, and everything leading to it, really made me respect Jamie.
Before, y'all criticize Jamie, I need y'all to know that this is a man who is like 22 years old, who just married Claire who is probably like 28 years old at the time. Claire is/ has already married someone prior to meeting Jamie.
Think of any 22 year old man in today's climate...do you think they would be willing to take on the responsibilty of a family right now? No.
Keep in mind, this marriage was forced upon both of them, why? To save Claire. Jamie was on Team Claire from day one. He has always done anything and everything to protect Claire. That's how serious he was about her.
#3: Flexibility/ Fairness
Jamie is a man growing up in the 1700's. A time where the lyrics, "this is a mans world" should be echoing loudly. Men at this time, saw their wives as property. Men saw women as simply being vehicles have children and to take care of the family.
Imagine a man in the 18th century, succumbing to the wills of a 20th century women. Jamie was gentle and understanding. He never forced Claire to do anything she didn't want to do. Jamie does a lot of compromising while still maintaining his being true to himself.
#4: Protective
Jamie would rather let a man rape him before he lets anyone touch his wife.
Okay, I know that what you just read may sound crazy, but don't worry...the scene was even crazier. The scene was mad.
In season one, there is one devil that keeps terrorizing the Fraser's, specifically Jamie. This is guy is a sick pervert. Captain Jack Randall, is a man who enjoys bringing people pain. He gets aroused by making other people suffer.
That's how I can lightly put it.
In the last episode of season one, Jamie is locked up in a cell. He's in pretty bad shape- he had been beaten, had his hand disfigures, etc. It was nasty. Claire manages to break into the cell and is almost able to free Jamie from captivity. Here comes good ole Captain Jack Randall.
One thing you have to know about Jack Randall is, he's a sinister mother f*cker. He's literally the devil.
Anyways, matters escalate to where Claire's life is danger and Jamie has to make a difficult decision. Jamie decides to stay in prison in order to preserve Claire's life. Jamie has had my respect since season one, because the price he paid to save Claire??? I don't know anyone who could come back from that.
Here is a glimpse of the last episode of season 1
You can read more about this episode here:
#5: Intelligent
Jamie is fluent in many languages, namely- english, gaelic, french, etc. Jamie is a well read man who knew how to blend into any society. If needed to lay low, he knew how to do that. If he needed to shake up the room, he could do that as well.
Jamie was also a good businessmen. He has sold barrels of liqour. He owned a printing press. He is a landlord in America (which happens later on in the series).
#6: A Gentlemen
There is a point in the 'Outlander' series where Claire and Jamie are separated indefinitely. Both Claire and Jamie come to an understanding that they may not be able to see each other again. They had a mutual breakup.
Jamie meets another women. He and this other lady share an intimate moment together.
A little backstory for this woman:
Her name is Geneva Dunsany. Geneva is a young girl from a rich family set up to marry this old fart. She and Jamie met during one of his lowkey phases. She desperately wanted her first time to be with someone she was attracted to. Jamie has nothing to lose; he doesn't even know if he'll see Claire again. So the two of them get together and the rest is history.
Back to the point of this section.
Jamie was so gentle with Lady Dunsany. He made sure she didn't feel uncomfortable and he respected her as a lady.
He was a true gentlemen.
Conclusion
All in all, there are so many moments in 'Outlander' where Jamie shows that he is a man worth fighing for. He's responsible, respectful, trustworthy. He's an all around good role model.
Jamie is a real lover. When he's in love he's all in. He doesn't joke about his lady. He goes above and beyond to make sure his woman his happy.
More guys, should aspire to be like Mr. Fraser.
Thanks For Reading!
I hope you all enjoyed today's blog post. If I have inspired you to watch 'Outlander'
That was my goal.
It's really a good watch. I won't lie, this show does start off slow, but once you make it past the wedding episode things get MESSY.
Once again, thank you so much for taking the time to read this post. I hope you all have a lovely day!
