On Screen “Buddies” Who Were Really Each Other’s Worst Nightmare
Hello everyone! Thanks so much for reading today's post.
As you can see today we will be going over some of Hollywood's not so friendly friends. We’re counting down our picks for the top 10 on screen friends who hate each other in real life. The actors and actresses on this list really held their own in order to give us that "movie magic". I guess they don't call it acting for nothing.
Please know that many of the actors and actresses on this list have not openly stated their disgust for the other person; most of these speculations are from rumors.
Let's get started!
Number 10: Blake lively and Leighton Meester- "Gossip Girl" (2007-2012)
The friendship between Blair Waldorf and Serena Vander Woodson was one of the most memorable elements of gossip girl because of the chemistry between Meester and lively. The two actresses acting made the audience really believe that these two girls were actually best friends. Unfortunately, their relationship offscreen is anything but rainbows and lollipops. Blake lively and Leighton Meester are reportedly not friends at all and quite frankly not on friendly terms. No one knows the exact reason but, lively and Meester‘s relationship began to deteriorate during the last two seasons of the show. After the series ended they both went their separate ways and never looked back.
Number 9: Teri Hatcher & "Desperate Housewives" Cast (2004-2013)
These cast members were good friends; in fact, it's what initally made the show so popular. Bridges started to burn between these women whenever Teri let the paycheck get to her head. Teri, who was one of TVs highest paid actresses, was cold and ignored her costars between filming. During a photo shoot for Vanity Fair in 2005, Marcia Cross and Eva Longoria stated that they would walk off the set if forced to pose with Hatcher. In the final season of "Desperate Housewives" the women purchased a gift for each crewmember as a farewell. Strangely, Hatcher‘s name was nowhere to be found on the card for her gift.
Number 8: Phil Murray and Lucy Liu- "Charlie’s Angels" (2000)
Let's just say Bosely wasn't so kind to his angels. The stories of what actualy occured between Murray and Liu vary. Apparently, their squabble started when Maury allegedly said that Liu couldn’t act. Yikes. Liu apparently had to be restrained by crewmembers for swinging on Murray. Murray insists that there’s no longer bad blood between them. Although, the wuation remains; is that how Liu got her role in "Kill Bill: Vol 1" (2003)
Number 7: Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth- "Beverly Hills, 90210" (1990-2000)
What is it about Shannon Doherty that makes her so difficult to work? Jennie Garth isn't the only co-star who has had an issue working with her. Alyssa Milano (charmed co-star) and Doherty reportedly butted heads which, in turn, resulted in her dismissal from the show. This seemed to be the same thing hat happened in relation to Doherty's relationship with Beverly Hills 90210 co-star Jennie Garth. Garth has stated publicly that there were times when she wanted to “claw Doherty‘s eyes out"
Number 6: Robert Downey Jr. and Terrence Howard- "Iron Man" (2008)
The characters, Tony Stark and James "Rhodey" Rhoades are supposed to be best pals. After starring as Rhodey in Iron Man, Howard was replaced by Don Cheadle in later installments of the film. Apparently Howard's was very demanding onset. Howard wanted to remain the highest paid actor even after his role was reduced. According to Howard, Downey took the money, pushed him out of the film, and refused to answer his phone calls.
Number 5: Anthony Daniels [C-3PO] and Kenny Baker [R2-D2]- "Star Wars" franchise (1977)
Kenny Baker, the actor inside R2-D2, called Anthony Daniels, the man inside C-3PO, an "awkward person and the rudest man he’s ever met." Baker asked Daniels to tour their characters to earn some extra cash, Daniels allegedly responded “I don’t do many of these conventions. Go away little man." Naturally, Baker was upset with Daniels' smart remark seeing as though he is 3‘8“. Baker said Daniels degraded him and made him feel small.
Number 4: Bea Arthur and Betty White- "The Golden Girls" (1985-1992)
These two ladies proved that feuds have no age limit. Their on screen characters may have been besties but they surely were not. Bea Arthur and Betty White most definitely did not go to burnch togther when filming ended.
"I was crazy about Bea and I admired her work so much and I loved her. She was not that fond of me" said Betty White.
There is talk that Arthur was jealous over the fact that white was the first cast member to win an Emmy for best actress in a comedy series. Bea felt that White was a “pain in the neck."
Number 3: Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall- "Sex and the City" franchise (1998-2010)
The chemistry between the two characters was near perfect but oddly enough that didn’t translate off the screen. The problem allegedly began because Parker was making more money than the rest of the cast. Other's suggest that Parker was jealous of Cattrall‘s character. According to both women however the feud was nothing more than a tabloid stunt and there was no real bad blood between the two actresses.
Number 2: David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson-"The X-Files" (1993-2002; 2016)
On screen, you can’t find a better duo than FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. Off screen, however, you wouldn't even know that these two knew each other. When they did talk they were usually bickering. Later the company admitting that they used to argue about nothing. The bickering was mainly due to the fact the two were forced to spend so much time together while filming. Today they maintain a civil relationship and even return in 2016 for the X-Files miniseries.
Before we get to number one, I am compelled to share a few other honorable mentions with you all. Take it as an added bonus; if you will.
- Ariana Grande and Victoria Justice- "Victorious" (2010-2013)
- Martin Lawrence & Tisha Campbell- "Martin" (1992-1997)
- Will Smith & Janet Hubert- "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" (1990-1996)
- Charlie Sheen & Selma Blair- "Anger Management" (2012- 2014)
Now that you have made it this far, let's take a look at who holds the number one position. These actors had the biggest feud back in the day and apparently still do.
Sitting at number one is...
William Shatner and George Takei- "Star Trek" franchise (1966-1991)
Unlike the other candidates on this list, these two gentlemen have publicly shared their dislike for one another. Takei took issue with Shatner‘s big ego and selfishness. Shatner has responded that he barely knows Takei and is confused as to why Takei has so much animosity towards him. Nevertheless, Shatner does continue to add fuel to the fire. Shatner goes onto the Today show and claims to not have seen Takei in over 50 years; he then goes on to say (in regard to Tekai)"...He's disturbed." The hostility remains strong to this day and there doesn’t appear to be any resolution coming anytime soon.
