Students, Time Is Important.

As a student, it's very easy to get side tracked when doing assignments. You might have to write a paper on something you have absolutely no interest in and in the process of taking your "break" you end up falling asleep or watching TikTok for the next 5 hours and your time is going. In this blog post, I want to give you students that helps me, a fellow student, whenever I feel myself getting distracted.

This post is NOT ONLY for students. This post is useful for people working in tech, bloggers, writers, editors, professors, etc

Lets get into it.

TIP #1: Setting Timers

Setting up small increments of time where you're focused can be useful in helping you complete your school work. You'll be surprised at how much work you can get done in 15 minutes. You can do 15 minutes on, 5 minutes off. My personal favorite is, 1 hour on, 30 minutes off. You'll understand more as I contiue on with my points.

TIP #2: Short Shows

Shot shows help me measure my break time. This is what I mean. During your break, you want to put on a show that you have watched before that is still entertaining enough to be considered a break. The episodes can not be binge worthy- example: The 100, The Vampire Diaries, Scandal). You have to play shows like Martin, The Parkers, My Wife & Kids, That's So Raven, etc. Essentially, the show you play has to have the following criteria:

  • Episodes are not longer than 30 minutes
  • Is not a serious show?
  • The show doesn't require you to read subtitles

Once the show is over that let's you know that it's time to go back to studying. It's a form of 1 hour on, 30 minutes off, without actually having to set a timer.

TIP #3: Background Noise

This option is my second favorite. Whenever I'm in the zone and I know that if I stop I won't continue till much later if not, at all, this is what I do. I play music on my speaker. Not on a high volume, but just high enough to feel like I'm not studying while I'm studying. I find this to be the best of both worlds for me. I get much more work done while being somewhat entertained at the same time.

TIP #4: DND is your Friend

Put your phone on DND, Do Not Disturb, if you know that you can easily get distracted my a phone call or a notification from social media.

You phone has built in features for you to be able to get work done more efficiently. Please use them.

Thank You For Reading!

Students, please don't let time get away from you as you are studying. I wanted to make a brief blog post that I felt might be helpful to some of you out there. Of course, everyone has a method that works best for them, the tips I posted above just seem to work best for me.

If you are someone that needs absolute silence, do that. Do what you need to make sure you are the best student you can be.

Let's finish this semester with a bang students! Good luck! 👍
