Obviously everyone breathes, so I'm not going to talk about the obvious reasons why you should consider practicing it- i.e. staying alive.

SIDE NOTE: Please do NOT try to unalive yourself. You mean way to much to the people who love and care about you. You are valuable. You are worthy of being here.
Just because you're going a storm right now doesn't mean the storm won't stop one day. Everyone goes through up's and down's. You may feel down right now, but that only means you have nowhere else to go but up; so don't give up!

Today, I'm going to over the benefits of deep breathing. And why I think you should consider giving it a try.

Let's get into the main topic of today...

What Do You Gain From Deep Breathing?

I know what you're thinking, "I breathe everyday, in how can breathing the way I am doing right now be any different that the way your trying to suggest to me right now?" The answer to that question is, I don't know. You'll have to decide for yourself after you implement the ideas I present to you.

#1: DEALING WITH STRESS:

Many of you deal with your own stresses in life- ex: bills, relationship drama, school, etc- and you don't know how to deal with it. You keep all that stressed bottled up inside and which can lead to some serious medical issues later in life.

SIDE NOTE: DO NOT underestimate the power of proper rest.

Simply breathing in and out, can help mitigate the effects of stress you may feel. You really want to make sure you keep your cortisol levels down.

You can read more about why it is important to keep your cortisol levels down below-click on the fourth link in the sources section below.

#2: IMPROVE YOUR TOLERANCE LEVEL:

Breathing deeply helps to increase your lung capacity. This can be extremely helpful for patients with COPD- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

Or if you simply wish to last longer under water.

#3: DROP THAT BP:

If your blood pressure is way out of wack, more specifically, if your systolic pressure it too high, practicing deep breathing will help lower your blood pressure.

#4: ENERGY BOOST:

Our bodies needs oxygen in order to perform at it's best. The more oxygen you inahle the better.

#5: CLEANSE THE BODY:

Breathing fully helps your body maintain a proper balance between carbon dioxide and oxygen. If you are not breathing fully, and properly, you expose your body to too much carbon dioxide which can lead to elevated blood pressure, confusion, and ultimately, suffocation.

#6: IMPROVE YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM:

Your blood needs to be properly oxygenated in order to carry vitamins and nutrients throughout the body. When your body doesn't receive clean, fresh air, illnesses may decide to set up shop in your b0dy.

What Causes Low Lung Capacity?

  • Obesity
  • Pregancy
  • Sedentary lifestyle
  • Vitamin D deficiency
  • COPD
  • Asthma

and many more factors can lead to  low lung capacity.

How To Practice Deep Breathing

All it will take for you to pravctice deep breathing is for you to take out 5-20 minutes out of day and do the following:

  • Breathe in for 7 seconds
  • Breathe out for 3 seconds
  • Repeat for at least 5 minutes straight everyday

REMEMBER:

This is not meant to be a strenuous activity. Make your environment as relaxing as you can. Keep your back straight. And try to do to this exercise around the same time everyday; try to make this a habit.

What are you waiting for? Start breathing.
